Those planets in the back should be your production and money-making buildings. This means the 'back' could be any cardinal direction (we know 'north' doesn't really exist in space, but bear with us). Planets may only be attacked if they are bordered by an enemy planet, so a planet in the 'back' is one surrounded by nothing friendly planets. The first thing you need to do is figure out what planets are in the front line, and which are in the back. That means half the map is initially owned by someone, and the other half that isn't will be hotly contested. At first, and depending on your map, you will have roughly 25% of the planets under your control.
(Might be a good idea since is the, you know, IGN guide to the game.) The Galactic Map is your hub for doing absolutely everything in the game. If you're a serious strategy game fan, you may see some similarities here between this game and other epic titles, such as Rome: Total War or the Civilization series.Īll right, let's talk about Empire at War.
