It requires a much lesser investment than paladin and allows you to transition back to the standard CA/Hussar/Halb comp. The reason being that the upgrade is fast and you can start production on the way up to imp, giving you a very fast timing attack in early imp with a unit that has high pierce armour (obviously very strong against the typical CA, elite skirm, ram/mangonel huns castle age army).
